We suibscribe to nn FMCSA monitoring service that keeps us informed of any alerts added to the US FMCSA carrier database. This allows us to keep our selectiin of carriers safe, up to date, and ready to perform for our customers.

What is the minimum level of financial security that a freight broker must maintain on file with FMCSA?

A broker or freight forwarder must obtain and file with FMCSA a surety bond or trust fund agreement in the amount of $75,000 to comply with FMCSA’s financial security requirements. Source: 78 FR 54720, Sept. 5, 2013. FMCSA has a modified form for the new requirement:

“Hours of service” refers to the maximum amount of time drivers are permitted to be on duty including driving time, and specifies number and length of rest periods, to help ensure that drivers stay awake and alert. In general, all carriers and drivers operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) must comply with HOS regulations found in 49 CFR 395.
